Greetings from the College Readiness Consortium!
We are working with representatives of many U of M colleges and
campuses to develop a website to make it easier for preK-12 students,
parents/families, and educators to find the many excellent programs for
and about youth offered at the U of M, including yours. We want the
parent who had heard there were great summer camps at the U, or wanted
to know where they could take kids to do something interesting on
campus, or for a teacher who is interested in professional development
opportunities, to find what they want without having to know the
university organizational structure or navigate through multiple
websites. The site will simply link directly to the program websites,
and you will maintain your websites as usual. We call the site 'K12 at U
<mailto:%27K12 at U> - K12 /at/ the U, /for/ you!'

We now have a beta site to share with you, at
https://mediamill.cla.umn.edu/InfoJuggler/session/3 Please take a look
at it. You will find short descriptions of each program, contact info,
and the url. Obviously those items can change, so we want to provide
access to the 'card' on the site that contains the information to
someone from your program or college. This should require minimal time
- perhaps none, if the info is correct and the url doesn't change. *We
need you to tell us who that contact person will be - if there is a
central person(s) in your college or campus who has responsibility
related to multiple programs, that works well for us. Send the contact
info to *_collegeready at umn.edu <mailto:collegeready at umn.edu>,_*
including the programs that person will be responsible for. If you see
programs that are missing, let us know that too. *

Our design and development group includes Kris Layon, the web designer
for System Academic Administration, Char Greenwald in my office, and
Wendy Friedmeyer of the College of Design's Design Institute. We are
now working with Colin McFadden, a CLA web developer. to create the
actual site. For questions, you can call Char Greenwald at
612-625-3695, or Julie Sweitzer at 612-625-5324.

Thank you for the excellent work you do on behalf of the children and
youth of Minnesota!
