Houston, we have a date!
Jessica Schomberg, Tina Gross, Leona Carlson and I worked together to
review the survey and focus group information on training needs, and we
put together a training outline combining face-to-face training with
online follow-up. I've attached that outline for you to review. And,
now we have a date for offering the face-to-face training:
Wednesday, June 11, from 9-4 p.m. at Minneapolis Community and
Technical College Library, room L1200
So, as we finalize the materials and content, I'd like to invite others
to work on any of the content with us. To that end, here's an overview
of our plans, and what we're thinking on these items. If you would like
to help build these training components, we would love your help. Many
hands make light work, right? And there's some money in it for you,
from the grant. If you open the training outine while you read through
this, it will make more sense.

Day 1 - Face to face
Morning
I see us pulling together this morning segment from the existing MOTSE
modules, in a very pared down, "just the basics," format - where does
the information come from, what are the common alterations you might
make in your local records (call numbers, subject headings, notes,
access points...)
Afternoon
I recall our discussion being that this would be more of a discussion,
with some presentation on the changing standards. Is there anyone who
would like to volunteer to pull together some materials on those things
(series tracings and the move to RDA)?
Online Continuation
Dewey
Bring materials from the MOTSE module on Dewey to the online format.
Would anyone like to put together some Captivate or Camtasia
presentation materials on number-building?
Sears
Tina is working on this already
Other issues
Would anyone be interested in researching these issues for the online
discussion on these topics? These were issues extracted from the survey
information.

So, if you'd like to join in on the fun and help develop these
materials, we'd love to have you!
