To our MOTSE Colleagues,
At the end of May, our friend and colleague, Karen Harwood, is retiring after fifty years as a librarian and thirty six years service to the College of St. Catherine.
Her career at the College began in 1972 as a professor of Library Science, teaching in the program. In 1980, she accepted a faculty position in the Library as Head of Technical Services following S. Marie Inez Johnson's retirement. Throughout her career she has focused on the education of the next generation of librarians, teaching in the Library Science Program and working with the Minnesota Library Association over the years on various continuing education efforts.
In our library, she has seen it all--from the end of the card catalog to Library 2.0-and on the way she taught us all to live a balanced life. Through all thirty six years, she has served St. Catherine's with her heart and soul and we are all the better for her presence.
In Karen's honor, we are holding a celebration on May 15, 2008 from 4 - 6 p.m. in the
S. Marie Inez Johnson Faculty Study in the Library, St. Paul campus. Come help us celebrate a life of joy in libraries and the extraordinary career of a teacher, a librarian, a colleague and a friend.
We invite you to join us or send a card of congratulations.
If you plan to attend Karen's retirement party - please RSVP to Rita Schultz (651-690-6650) or email rischultz at stkate.edu
